Regeneration
You breathe easy now.
Our yard is ready for the winter.
Moldering leaves
pile high around the roses,
protect from chill.
Nurture.
Only weeks ago
you plucked the fruit
of summer’s harvest.
But yesterday
you turned the soil
and what remained
will rot.
Our children’s children’s
children
will feed on our garden,
will feed on our lives.
Reformation, Renewal, Rebirth, Restoration and Regeneration…..is what came to my mind on reading your poem!!
