The weather here in Reno is notoriously unpredictable. One year we had skiing up the road a piece (near Tahoe) for July 4th and it’s not uncommon to want heat and air-conditioning in the same day. This week, after temperatures in the 90’s (F), Mother Nature decided it was time for a surprise, so she sent in fierce winds, light rain, and thunderstorms. Since this is a year of drought, we would have been happy with the rain, but there wasn’t enough of it. This morning it was 38 (F) and we’re wondering where our guest hummingbirds have been–the wind made us take down their feeder. So today, for dVerse Open Link Night, I’m sharing another short poem:
Damnp Spring
Wet spring bouquets change
morning gray into a sunlit garden.
Birds nest between flowers
and a cloudy sky.
I hope to catch you later on over at the Pub where you will enjoy companions and verse and all kinds of fun and talent.

Charming…hope those hummingbirds are ok. We’ve been having nice rain in the afternoons or evenings for over a week now..lovely and cooling.

Very thoughtful and pretty little poem, Victoria.
We’ve also had roller-coaster weather. Broke heat records in March, and the past few days have been cool and rainy. The saying here in New England though is “Don’t like the weather? Wait a minute!” 🙂

We are having crazy swings in our weather here too … very odd and sometimes quite enjoyable.

Your climate reminds me of Melbourne, Australia where there say ‘if you don’t like the weather, don’t worry it will soon change’. When I was there we had 40C sun one day and wind and rain and shivers the next. You can even have four seasons in one day there. Summer has arrived on the Costa Blanca and it will be efforts to keep cool now until the end of August.

A lovely little poem, I know we waited for rain during the years of drought with gardens dying, tough water restrictions and now the last couple of years too much rain. Sometimes you can’t win with mother nature.

I sympathise with you over the unpredictable weather this year – We are suffering from it too – I’m wearing a winter vest, a T shirt and a cashmere sweater and I’m still chilly! I love the little poem.

We had extreme heat in April, then May it rained like there is no tomorrow. Now summer is back, but we expect temperature dropping in the next few days too. At least everything is so green and flowery from the rain this year!
