just enough rain to muddy my recently washed car
an american sentence

surprise desert shower, momentary hope,
lasting but five minutes

An American Sentence posted by Lynn at A Poem in My Pocket inspired me to turn to this form to overcome my creative drought.

  1. Jamie Dedes says:

I think creative “droughts” often proceed some profound creativity. It’s just a liminal moment, hard to preduct what’s coming … but something will come. That’s for sure. No worries, Victoria.

  2. lynn__ says:

Thanks for the friendly nod in my direction, Victoria 🙂 Here’s hoping your droughts soon end!

  3. 5h2o says:

Very nice! The middle phrase is especially powerful, in the context of the others.

  4. Oh I wish lots and lots of rain for you.. Here the glimpse of sunshine is what I would need….:-)

  5. I sympathise with your droughts – poetic and rainwise, and hope both are alleviated soon. Conversely, it has been raining pretty well nonstop for more than a week here!

  6. That’s the way to get muddy! I’m envious.

  7. scillagrace says:

I wish you storms for your droughts! My car is gloriously muddied by a camping trip in the North Woods, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I am, however, expecting Midwest showers to wash it off tomorrow.
