the fresh breath of winter–dVerse OLN

the fresh breath of winter

shimmering snowfall
still water, frozen beauty
warming arid hearts

gazing on and on
reverent winter wonder
bare trees bow toward earth

nature’s white embrace
crystals sparkle silvery
beneath winter’s sun

Beautiful, Victoria. So many think and write that Winter is the season of demise, death, but to me, Winter holds such promise! The clean slate, the way the colors of the Earth dissolve into duns, grays, blacks and a pure white. It is the season of Silence, Solitude and Creativity for me! And your poem draws me into this special season.

I love the focus on esthetics & beauty. Winter as it mantles all creates chilled beauty and breathtaking optics–but when the ice is thick on the roads, and there is 6 feet of snow in front of the door, it no longer thrills me.
