Requiem

Requiem

Bring back thoughts of you
as sun comes shining—

grain, golden,
hair, gilted as well,
the sound of a step
different from all others.

My heart— ready to greet you.
Only with the heart can one see.
But I shall cry.
(I shall cry.)

An Erasure Poem

Lovely, touching poem. I would never know it’s an erasure poem, but somehow there is sense of The Little Prince in there, too.
Sorry about your wrists. I hope you are healing well.

  4. Lovely poem. I recently re-read The Little Prince. It’s a favorite. I first read it in French while taking said language in college. It is a grand source of words for an erasure poem and perfectly on prompt.

    • Freddie, so good to “see” you. The story about your mother touched me deeply and I’m sorry for that hole in your heart that must abide. I cringed at your encounter with the weights…just when I was thinking of returning to some endurance work (with 2 lb free wts-ha). Don’t think my husband will buy the excuse though. Spiritual peace is such a treasure (to be worked for, of course) Blessings to you, friend.

  17. your erasure fits so neatly together – “the sound of a step
different from all others.” – perfect!
p.s. I broke my wrist a couple of years ago so I understand the frustration. Sunshine brings vit D which brings healing. Good to see you back
