the delicate art of living
a quadrille for Viv

my heart follows
as she flits, dances
from flower to bud
sipping with joy
of life’s abundant nectar,

savoring each moment
of this brief séjour,
leaving behind
such sweetness of word-pollen,

placing with care each stitch
into the textured,
colorful fabric
of life’s journey

Today, our first day back at dVerse Poets’ Pub, we are thinking of our friend, Viv, who we lost while we were on break. The prompt is to write a Quadrille, a poem of exactly 44 words, that includes the word JOURNEY.

Journey–SiS’ Daily Haiku Challenge

Submitted to SiS’ Daily Haiku Challenge:

Coming or going?
We’re here for but a moment
make the most of it.

And this is “The End” of our wonderful Haiku Challenge. With many thanks to our host, Someone is Special, who, indeed, is special.

Passage–Jingle’s Poetry Potluck

Submitted to Jingle’s Poetry Potluck for which the theme is “The Road Ahead”:

Through murky fog you stumble, step-by-step,
aware only of the terrain awaiting your next footfall.

Before you, somewhere, sun breaks out of gloom,
a purple crocus pierces the dank earth and snow.

Mockingbird sings of promise, Mother Dove gathers
twigs for her nest. Earth stretches, shakes off sleep.

In faith you move forward, trusting that each moment
will sustain you, nudge you onward in your journey,

that choices you have made today will bring to you
a morrow of meadows kissed with fragrant hues.
