There are many poetic devices in our writer’s toolbox that many of us turn to without a second thought, I think of such things as rhythm, movement, repetition and alliteration. We use them because they are pleasing to the ear.
Even when writing prose, I find myself “feeling” syllable counts, stresses and alliteration–a form of repetition that draws the reader in.
For today’s prompt, write a poem or a bit of prose, even if just a paragraph of description, in which you use alliteration. I bet, if you go back into some of your archives, you will find an example…even if you were unaware that you were using alliteration at the time.
In the meantime, here’s Johnny Carson and Jack Webb with absolutely amazing alliteration to give you a good laugh:

So happy to see this. I recently read some material by an English poet of note – I like him – and was disappointed to see him discourage alliteration. I think it is a natural part of our “toolbox” … Bravo!
Thanks for the Carson vid. Great good fun.
Happy Monday!

I posted a poem, hope it has enough alliteration for you (the title is even alliterated) and hope you really, truly, love the picture. I did not write the poem for the pic, but the pic was irresistible.
