After a busy weekend for many of us celebrating a holiday, I thought it would be good to start the new week with a moment’s reflection.
I took the photos of the Yucca and Smoke Bush at neighborhood homes the rest are from chez nous.
Here’s a Mr. Linky to this post in case you want to add a link to some photos of your garden. Or perhaps you’ll be inspired to write a poem based on a photo from your own garden or, if you like, use one of these. Take a few moments to enjoy the beauty of nature before charging back to whatever awaits you at work or wherever the day will take you.
An aside–a special thank you to Laurie Kolp who took the time to read and review my novel, “Winter is Past,” on Amazon.com
Oops. Had this scheduled for the wrong date!
These are lovely photographs, Victoria. You must have a lovely garden. 🙂

Thank you, Scott. As I mentioned on you blog, these peonies and roses are exquisite. I though of them as I walked past my own peony bush which was spent a few weeks ago. But the roses are in full bloom right now.

Yes, a Smoke Bush. We had a huge one in the backyard that took a big hit this winter so David cut it back a lot. It’s alive but not like this one. Hope you enjoy the wild flowers as much as the deer enjoyed the roses.

Rambling thoughts
Extreme changes are afoot –
large garden with sweeping lawn
merging with green countryside,
by rampant weeds
for which the energy
needed is deserting us.
The joy we’ve had in watching
trees and shrubs and flowers grow
towards maturity,
the satisfaction in providing
our own fruit and vegetables,
will soon be in the past.
A large tablecloth
will cover the garden
where we’ll soon
be putting down our roots
and tending flowers in pots.
I can’t find a picture of either garden since the computer mender mucked up my laptop, but you’ve seen lots on my blog, the most recent being http://vivinfrance.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/6-word-saturday-51/

This tells the story of what’s happening in your life now, and something we will anticipate in the not far distant future. As the years go by, the garden seems bigger and harder to maintain. Perhaps when that happen we’ll go to the desert full time, but right now it’s 114 F. Don’t know about that.

Claudia, this is amazing. It’s like that rose creates its own little world, a shelter where you’d like to curl up and write poetry. Thanks for sharing.
