All Hallows Eve
An Acrostic
Any soul not yet at rest
Loosens the grip of uncertainty,
Leaves the abode of the dead, wanders
Here and there amongst the living.
As darkness enfolds earth’s visage
Lost spirits roam, hungering for
Love once refused, lessons to be learned.
Only those still in this realm who understand
What is required to seek fulfillment
Strive to offer hope and prayers.
Even these must wait to cross
Vast worlds and unexplained dimensions
Eventually to rest in peace.

I, too, love acrostics, even though I rarely create them. I do the acrostic puzzles in the Sunday NY Times and love wordplay.
This was a perfect offering for All Hallows’ Eve. Thanks!

In those constraints the shiver comes in a melodic fashion and lends to the tales grip. Seems to give it a certain …uncertainty amongst the living!
Spooky fun…great job and Happy Halloween!

Loved the poem. Great use of the acrostic form, its lines woven together well – so often acrostics seem like random, separate thoughts, little connection.
